Here she shares her story with us, and some helpful tutoring tips!

TN: Where are you from and which subjects do you tutor?

Breanna: I’m from Los Angeles , California and I tutor all subjects, ranging from basic concepts and core subjects (reading, math, science, etc.) to more complex subjects (pharmacology, physiology, botany).

TN: How did you get involved with tutoring?

Breanna: Well, I was originally just a private tutor with no company. I tutored family friends, and some of my college classmates, because I noticed they were struggling to keep up with the curriculum. Then I made the choice to take this a step further, and cultivated my own tutoring business to reach out, not just to family friends and college students, but to everyone regardless of their age or background. Another reason why I became involved with tutoring was to make a positive impact on the education system. I’ve set out to make a change, and that’s my goal.

TN: How long have you been tutoring?

Breanna: I’ve been tutoring for over 5 years.

TN: What is the most rewarding aspect of being a tutor?

Breanna: I love educating. Education is a beautiful industry if you utilize the resources given, and get to know each and every one of these potential learners out there. I love seeing the success of every person I work with when they get that concept, and that smirk just forms on their face. There isn’t any greater reward than that. It’s very heartwarming seeing people reach goals, and accomplish great things.

TN: What insight or tutoring tips would you like to share with other tutors?

Breanna:  Tutoring isn’t about making money; it’s about educating, changing lives, and being a game changer in the education system for a good cause. When you start your business things will not automatically be perfect. It is trial and error with tutoring. Clientele will gradually build. You need to make sure you create several social networks, and network. Be a good tutor, organize yourself, and get a system going that works for YOU. Be different – nobody wants three like tutors in their community. Step outside of the box. The better you are as a tutor/tutoring business owner, the more clients will come your way. Parents love to grab coffee, and gossip about their children’s success. A few more tips: Budget and track expenses, and buy long lasting educational materials. I always post a tutoring tip on my Facebook Business Page.
